The Duirinish peninsula in the North West of Skye has some of Scotland’s most dramatic and varied stretches of coastline. The topography ranges from towering cliffs to the black sands of Orbost beach and the white “coral” (actually, calcified seaweed known as maerl) of Coral Beach. Inland and you’ll find the flat tops of Macleod’s Tables.
The townships of Dunvegan, Glendale , Struan, Waternish, and Edinbane are all in the North West of Skye. You can visit Dunvegan Castle, the seat of the Clan Macleod, where they run boat trips out to see the seals relaxing, beached on the tiny islands.
