Accommodation in North Skye
The North Skye section contains accommodation on the Trotternish peninsula which is the largest and most northerly on Skye,
The dramatic landscape is dominated by the awe-inspiring Trotternish volcanic ridge that rises to 611m (2,000ft) above sea level, it is not only impressively beautiful but also unique. The diverse range of terrain – the ridge gives way to vast tracts of peat moorland riddled with countless rivers and streams that all terminate in a vertiginous plunge over towering cliffs into the sea – provides an abundance of habitats for a wide variety of bird species: Whinchats, twites, pipits, dunlins along with the shy corncrake and on to golden and white tailed eagles. The area is a walker’s and ornithologist’s paradise but also a favourite location for film-makers in search of ‘other-worldly’ backdrops to their stories.
